Hasegawa 1/72 scale F-106A Delta Dart...

Everything about this build is old. The kit is old, the decals are old and I am old. According to Scalemates this kit boxing is the original boxing from 1969. The decals are SuperScale from 2005. We won't go into how far back I go. I like these old kits. The molding is good and the raised detail can be quite delicate, rivaling some of today's kits with recessed panel lines. Cockpit detail is minimal which is OK with me. It's the exterior appearance I'm interested in anyway. I did put in the kit pilot figure to give the build some scale. The F-106 was a big airplane! The build represents an F-106 of the 87the Fighter Interceptor Squadron participating in the 1972 William Tell Meet. The overall gray color is MM Light Ghost Gray. I think the canopy mask was from New Ware for some other kit brand. The nose is MM Flat Black The ring around the tail pipe is Testors silver. The interior of the weapons bay is chromate green. The air-to-air rockets are Testors gloss white and gloss red. The airplane did have speed brakes over the tail pipe but during painting they broke off and were devoured by the Carpet Monster. Still, the completed build looks good on the shelf.

Jets just look good when posed in flight.

Frank,

Beautiful job sir, and I agree it looks sharp in it's flight pose.

Thanks, Drifter. I'm just hooked on these early jets right now. I have three more in the pipeline right now.[
