whatta board
Posted by nsclcctl on Wednesday, April 7, 2004 7:51 AM
We on aircraft have the best board around in my opinion. I posted a simple questiuon on auto yesterday. I wanted some help finding a 58 corvette model. Two people read the post in 24 hrs. I put something here, 2 people read the post withing 5 minutes. This is incredible. Aircraft is where it is at!!!!!

If you take a look at the numbers of people on the forums, the post counts, etc, it's easy to see why. Also, Finescale isn't the best choice for auto forums. If you want that, go to their sister publication, ScaleAutoMag. I post auto questions here and there, since both are an asset to me. The people on the auto forum do the best they can, and offer any help that they know of, just as people do on all other groups on this forum. Their replies are proportional to their numbers. It's obvious that this forum is for military modelling mostly, and as a result, that's where the majority of the users focus as well. It's very unfair to say that this is the best group simply because you happen to get more reads. They do the best they can with what they have.

Sign - Ditto [#ditto] in full agreement. it seems that the majority of the members here build (not neccesarily in this order) a/c, armor (read military vehicles), and ships. with the number of ship builders being a distant third in total numbers. they also build auto, sci fi, and figurines. hence the large number of posts and views on the armor and a/c forums. i do view threads in the other topics but i do not post much there as i am afraid that i would give the wrong advice. Zokissima has given the best advice, there are other forums on the web that specilize in auto builds they are great places to post specific questions.

I'm in agreeance with everything stated. I build cars also, and am in the process of doing so right now. I read your post, but I know nothing of Corvettes. If I have a question that needs answered immediately about autos, I roam over to the Scaleauto forums.

Got to agree. Maybe I will take the advise above and head over to scaleauto's forums as well. Motorsport is my first love, but I vary a lot. Everything from that right through to wooden ships! I will try and build a big carrier as well, one day (if I get the space...)

As for Corvette questions - I am clueless. But if you want some info on F1, rallying or GP bikes, give me a shout! Not promising an answer, but I can try...

PS - forgot to say that you get a lot of help around here, esp. for one (like me) who isn't all that experienced in aircraft, but want to do a good job of it when I try.

Thanks for all the guys that allready helped me out!

I don't build a lot of cars but a year ago I went to the FSM auto forum to ask about wire wheels, and I got several replies in a day or so along with a couple of great web links on the subject.

2 thumbs up and kudos to the builders over there!
