1/48 Admiral Heinkel He.170A (WIP)

Hello friends.  It’s been a while since I posted a WIP so I thought I'd take this rare bird out of the stash and give it a go.  The aircraft is an He.170A in 1/48 scale.  It's a limited run kit from AZ Model (Admiral) so I’m keeping expectations low for now. But upon opening the box, I am pleasantly surprised by the quality.

The molding is quite crisp and the detail is completely recessed with subtle lines.  Typical of most limited run kits is the presence of flash but I can deal with it.  This kit comes with options to create an early as well as a late version of this rare bird and included is a nice resin WM-K-14 radial engine and radiator.

Also included is a nice decal sheet of Cartograph quality.

I can say that I have never seen this one before. This should be interesting.

Thanks guys. Glad to have you aboard. After really going through the kit with a fine tooth comb, I’ve run across incomplete seam lines, ill fitting parts, and short shots and surface deformaties from poor moulding. But, I gladly accept this challenge. This one should be interesting!Big Smile

Very cool subject , love the off the beaten path subjects! The kit looks really good compared to other short run offerings I've seen. Looking forward to seeing it build out.

Chad,

What a blast to the past...I haven't seen a Admiral kit in a long time. That looks like a great kit and build, and I thank you for doing a WiP on this one. Will this be a straight OOB or do you have some goodies that your going to spring on us at a later date?

I will definitely be along for the entire ride with this one.

Jeff

Sorry guys. After starting this kit, it has become quickly apparent that this one is a little above my skill set at this time.  Maybe after I get a few vintage kits under my belt, I can build the skills needed to give this kit proper respect.  The scratch building alone has me perplexed as to how I’d make the peices needed. Bang Head The molding is pretty horrific and I have too many in the stash to tackle.  So I’ll have to throw in the preverbal towel for now and give this one a go at another time. Sad

All good , I applaud You for making the decision to put it on the shelf for a bit. I've got more than one kit stashed back for the same reasons! Limited run kits can be a bit of a poser.
