Academy 1 48 F4C ridiculous decal sheet.

Hey all,

So at the decal point of my build love the kit but is the amount of decals on this thing for real? I just find it so cluttered (I'm sure this is due to scale) anyone have any opinion on this?

Stencil applications on USAF Phantoms varied. During Vietnam, and late Cold War, they were black and lest visible... sometimes less applied even. In the immediate post Vietnam era when markings were more conspicuous, they were white, and looked to be all over the place...

That sheet is plain nuts. I've built that kit and it looks fine once they are all on. In fact, I think it looks funny without them. Having come from the Airforce I can say without a doubt that the stencil everything.

Plus...it's better to have the option to choose not to use some, than to need them and not have them. Big Smile

Yes sheet is crazy gonna put them all on as this build has gone pretty great up to now, only bought resin seats and photo etch for cockpit. Intakes were great and easy to get rid of seam line. Thanks for the reply the middle pic is spot on .

Not familiar with your kit, but i recently built the Airfix 72nd Royal navy Phantom and it had well over 250 decals, most  of them stencils. Took me best part of a week, but looks nice once done.

265 total stencil insane took me a week and a bit.

On a side note I moved on to weathering and decided to finally try my testers creatfx wash honestly I'm relatively new but this wash is just incredible .

That decal sheet is keeping my phantoms snuggly nestled in the stash!
