Is it just me or is this one not one of Hasegawa's best?
It's fought me basically every step on the way. The fit ofthe nose to the rest of the fuselage is atrocious. The LERX join to the fuselage leaves gaps everywhere.
Do any of y'all have tips on this beast?
So, a few notes I've found.
Do not put the engine face in when they say. I'd recommend attaching it to the nose first.
Also, I'd install the LERX and the assembled wing to the fuselage before installing the nose/ engine face.
The cockpit is horrid. The raised details on the IP are alright, but everything else is incredibly light to almost non-existent, it almost necessitates PE.
So far, that's about where I'm at. I'm sure I'll encounter more.
Panel fit is shocking, i spent way to much time on this kit trying to correct the poor moulding. It has sat for years know unfinished and will most likely end up as a paint mule...
If anybody knows of a good 1/48 Harrier kit I'd like to know, I would like one for my collection.
It's sad, but there's only Hase and the old Revellogram
Hummm........
I find all the enjoment fades fast if your having to fix things the manufactures cant or wont.
Hasa it will be then.
Thanks

I agree completely.
I thought it was just me. I tried several times to conquer this kit. 4 times in fact. I have 3 boxes, 2 Hasegawa kits, and 1 Revell kit stashed under my bed that are complete failures.(the Revell had a portion of the tail melted, I didn't realize it when I bought it off eBay) That kit really beat the life out of me, and made me think I was a horrible model builder. But I refused to give up, and was determined to have a presentable Harrier model. It is possible. So attempt #4 was successful. A lot of paitence was required.
Definitely not just you.
I wish Tamiya would put out a Harrier in 1/48th and make it reasonably priced.
It's odd...scalemates says this kit was new tool in 2004, but it doesn't seem that way. Seems like it came out in the 80s. I'd love for a company to put one out where it actually fit properly.
