1/48 Tempest Question
Posted by TheWaggishAmerican on Sunday, September 8, 2019 6:47 PM

Howdy,

I've been recieving a relative flood of requests on my channel to build a model of Pakistan's first fighter plane to commemorate an anniversery or something. IDC what the reason is, but my followers want it, so...

My problem is this- it's a Tempest Mk 2. Now the fact that it's a Tempest at all is pretty annoying- I REALLY don't want to pay Eduard prices. But it being a Mk II... I only can think of one fix.

The conversion set that I can't find. Now, here's my question- Tempest II shares an engine with the Sea Fury. Are the cowls dimensionally similar enough that an engine swap would be feasible, or am I stuck trying to find this sticking resin?

Thanks

-TWA

I've never tried to mate Sea Fury parts to a Tempest.  Due to the different slope of the fuselage forward of the windscreen and probably different width of the fuselage at the back of the cowl I think the best option is MDC.

I have the set and some Eduard Tempest overtrees, neither of which were all that expensive.
