I'd like to do one of each, so i am thinking of scratchbuilding, but that will be some way off. Odd thing is that peddinghaus do decal for a 72nd C but there is no kit for it.

 

 

 

 

 

thats interesting, I’d like to do a diorama of one or two like you said on a carrier deck. Since we’re on the subject, was there a certain variation of the BF-109 that would have to be used on the graf zeppellin

 

 

 

 

Yes, the 109T. There are a few kits out there in 72nd, not sure about 48th.

 

There are several versions of the BF109T-1/T-2 from Hasegawa, Academy, and MPM. Check eBay, they range from $15 to $50.

First, you do realize the Graf Zeppelin was never operational? The navalized version of the 109 was the Bf-109T, derived from the Bf-109E. About 70 were built in the end, and saw training and some other use. The Messerschmitt Me 155 was a later design, as it was realized the Bf-109T would be useless as a fighter by the time the carrier would be in service. The design bounced around eventually to Blohm und Voss as a high altitude interceptor for B-29s...needless to say, this project went nowhere as well. 

 

Yes i realize that the graf zeppelin was never an operational ship, it was continiusly started and stopped. This is more of a what if build since those seem to be the thing now a days. But it’s currently a subject that’s peaked my interest in recent months.

I was hoping to do a wings folded but may have to settle

It would depend on how far you want to go. If your not worried about having the wings folded, then simply adding an arrestor hook would do. having looked at both types i can't see any other differance.

I believe hasegawa did a Ju 87C, but as far as i know thats the only one. But i think its long out of production.

I have been after a conversion or kit of this variant in 72nd scale for years but nothing yet. You would need an 87B as a base kit.

 

Im not as technical with planes as i am with tanks so this will be a long study. Thank you for helping!
