Chad, i am realy pleased with how my wood has been turning out. I find the oil paints really easy to work with.

Wow!  Well done! The splinter camo scheme came out really well on the large plane. Congrats. Nice photos too!

Time to wrap this up. I got the Condor finished last weekend. Undercarrage, flaps and other bits were added. I gave it a light Flory wash and some exhaust staining. Really pleased with the end result, for once i haven't completly blended the 2 greens.

Then spent last week finishing off the vehciels and figures. I do like those Academy trucks, its my second this year. The Kubel is Hasegawa and the figures all Airfix.

I have a few of their items including paint racks and botle stands. There are a couple of companies here that do stuff like this.

There is another UK company called Spehere. I have a couple of their paint brush holders as well as a different paint rack. The owner is also a member of the same model club as i am and he is an amazing figure painter.

Bish, I like that jig your Condor is resting on. Very nice. Is it store bought or home made?

Chad, ye, quite a bit. Not often you get to do a German subject this size.

Looking forward to see those weathering pics. You went through quite a bit of paint on that fuselage!

Thanks Trey. Now i have the weathering on and flat coat applied, i am really happy with how its loking. Just going to finish a couple of vehciles to go with it.

I seem to have missed an update. I had the pre paint pics taken and loaded onto Flickr 10 days ago but seem to have forgotten to post them. So a double update this time.

Got the underside gondola masked up and fitted.

And the same for the pit canopy and upper turret.

After some primer, the paint. RLM 65 underneath and 72/73 on top. This ofcourse included the best bit of painting German aircraft, masking for the splinter camo.

And then the decals. I do like Xtradecals, they lay down nice and i have never had any issues with them.

Just somelight weathering to add, going to give it a wash with flry and some exhaust staining.

Nothing wrong with a nice clean standard splinter cammo , wellenmuster cammo is hard in 1/48 scale let alone 1/72! Looking forward to the next update

Its just the standard 72/73, it was the only C-8 on the xtradecal set.

That 48th kit is going to be a whopper, will be watching out for that.

Looking great so far! I've got the 1/48 Trumpeter in the stash might have to give it a go. Did you decide on a scheme yet?

Ah so no mirror wave camo?  That’s a fiendishly difficult one to do in 1/72, although I have seen excellent renditions at contests.  How they did it is quite beyond me.

Do you have the Ju-290 as well?

 

Deffinetly not on this. But ye, i have seen some really nice o nes in that scheme, i think i might have to get some practice in first. It was a nice bonus to see the Xtradecals had markings for a c-8.

ye, i have both of Revell's 290 kits. I think one of them might be my next big German subject.

   I had the Trumpy 1/48 Condor, IMHO a beautiful plane, particularly fascinated by the landing gear, unfortunately I got talked out of building it by a fella who just badmouthed it from the word go, traded it for a tank or something.

   Nice build so far Bish.

I had not heard anything bad about the Trump kit, the reviews all say its nice. I always wanted a C-3 to do an aircraft from the Stlantic campaign so jumped at the Trump kit.

Are the wings really that long, or is due to the camera angle? It almost looks like a glider. Nice work, by the way.

 

Thanks Johnny. The wings are that long but i think the illusion is caused more by the kit. Its dimensions are very similar to a B-17 but the Condor seems bigger. I am thinking it might be becaiuse the wings are slimer and that makes them look longer than they are.

Its deffinetly not easy to handle around the bench.
