Monogram 1/72 F11C-2 Goshawk...

The first copyright on this kit is 1968, the second, on the box lid, is 1979. It's a terrific little kit. And I mean little! All finished it fits in the palm of my hand. It may weigh a couple of ounces with paint. I'm impressed that I was able to build it to completion since I have these big nubby fingers. The kit has a mix of raised and recessed detail and all the detail is very delicate. Not bad for maybe 50 years old. I built the kit out of the box. Of course the decals were toast so I bought a set of Starfighter Decals from Mark's Models for this build. Very nice decals albeit a bit delicate. The decals snuggle down with a little Micro Sol. The parts fit is very good. Very little putty was needed. According to my research, these airplanes were painted with silver lacquer so most of the airplane is painted with Testors Silver in the square bottle. Even with a clear coat, the silver paint is easily scratched. I do have some touch-up to do. The top wing is Model Master Chrome Yellow enamel. The tail is MM Insignia Red enamel and the cowl in MM Willow Green enamel. Enjoy...

Well done, Frank.  Get yourself some Tamiya silver in the spray can and decant it.  That Testor's stuff never dries.

That looks mighty fine to me! I love those Yellow Wing biplanes. Beautiful aircraft, and Monogram sure got it right with that little gem!

Beautiful build of a vintage model kit. Reminds me of Monogram in the '70s

Thank you all for your comments. I really enjoyed this build. I'm looking forward to more like it. nkm, thanks for the catalog sheet. I'm going to print that out and take it with me to Modelpalooza next month. The catalog sheet is an excellent addition to my already lengthy shopping list.
