Revell F/A-18E Super Hornet Kit 5850

I just called this kit done.....

I had a few issues with paint.....got to the point where I got frustrated and threw the rest of it together.

Not my best build, not my worst. Would say that I'm just "satisfied" with it.

The kit itself is pretty decent. Fit was good for the most part. There are some small issues with how Revell decided to do the cockpit attaching, but it wasn't too bad. I got this kit from HobbyLobby with 40% off, the shipping was very sloooooooooooow. I doubt I will be ordering from them again. Customer service wasn't that great either.

As anyone who has viewed my other kits....I'm not one to follow the norm on painting patterns...this one is no exception. The breaks between the paint colors were done in something of a strange fashion. I took a piece of notebook paper....folded it in half. Cut the paper to width I needed from the centerline of the plane. I then burned the edges of the paper...letting it slowly burn into different depths...then using my fingers, just put it out. I like the way it looks.....to each his own I guess.

I also used the leftover weapons from the F-15 Eagle, and mounted them onto this kit. So the two external fuel tanks and the other missles are from that kit.

For whatever reason, I didn't take any pics of the acutal build. I thought I did, but either I can't find them, or I erased them from my camera by mistake.

Either way, here are the pics that I do have:

EDIT: Meant to add that the decals that came with this kit weren't the greatest. It seemed to take them a long time to release from the sheet, and every one of them wanted to curl as soon as it was removed from the sheet. They also seemed a little thick.

I’m currently building this same kit.  I went online and joined this thread looking for help/advice for the nose section assembly joining the fuselag.  I finally sanded and sculpted some plastic to make it fit.  I’m reasonably happy with the results.  Also, wasn’t thrilled with the air intake trunk meeting the fuselage sides.  It’s been a bit more filling and sanding than I prefer and I’m looking forward to moving on with this one.

Thanks for the pictures.

Cheers
