I think I first built this kit right after I graduated from college, maybe '72 or '73, when I lived in St.Louis. This is a nice kit. A mix of raised and recessed detail. The parts fit good. The only fit issue was where the wings joined the fuselage, but that was it. The build is OOB. I rarely add after market stuff except decals. By the time these old kits get to my work bench, the decals are pretty much useless. The decals in this case are from AOA, the second kit I've used AOA decals, each time RVNAF airplanes. This is my first real venture into using acrylic paint. The underside is Tamiya flat white. The pre-shading is Tamiya flat black. The topside is Model Master light ghost gray enamel. Both top and bottom were sealed with Tamiya clear gloss thinned 1/1 with Mr. Color 400 self-leveling thinner. After I applied the AOA decals, I sealed them with another coat of thinned Tamiya clear gloss. After some detail work like exhaust and gun residue, I sealed the whole job with the old reliable, Testors Dullcote. Comments welcome...
OK. In the stash: Way too much to build in one lifetime...
Oh, it's a beauty - I like it a lot! This is a wing commander's mount right? With colours of all four squadrons? Thanks for sharing and have a nice day

Thanks, Pawel. I think the airplane is a commander's airplane.
Great looking model. You put a lot of TLC into the finish.
A question- NVAF (North Vietnamese Air Force)?
I'm thinking RVNAF (Republic of Vietnam Air Force).
Modeling is an excuse to buy books.
Nice work. I am a sucker for grey skyraiders (Ever since I saw the Monogram Kit on the shelf at K-Mart back int he 80's).
On the Bench: Too Much

I fixed it, G. I try to proof my posts before I hit the submit button. Somehow I missed that.

Yeah, I didn't want to do the SEA camo and I didn't want to do the Navy Skyraider with the bumblebee tail. I think the Vietnamese Air Force sometimes doesn't get enough recognition, thus the Skyraider like this.
Seems I can't fix the title for the thread though...
You can if you go back to your original post and edit it. The subject line will become active there.
You might, mainly to make future internet searches of RVNAF bring the build up.

Thanks. All fixed...
Thanks, Johnny. I still have some ordinance to hang on the wings yet. When I get near the end of a build, I really have to exercise some patience so I don't hurry to finish the build just to get on the shelf. Also, I find using thinned Tamiya gloss clear to be a better paint and decal sealer than Pledge.
