Bought My First Model
Posted by aaronc on Friday, October 18, 2019 9:20 AM

After my introduction post about a month ago one of you guys recommended a hobby store close to where I workin Louisville,KY. I made it over there last week for a visit. Like I said in my intro I'm new to plastics but after spending some time looking I came out with this machine. The Revell Stearman PT-17.  It was nice to look at some products in person.

At the moment my phone is mad at my computer so I can't upload a pic. My interest is WW1 biplanes but this caught my eye and after getting it home and reading the reviews and history online I'm very happy with the purchase. I have a few more models saved for purchase on the net that will be headed my way next week..I also have some basic tools to purchase and glues etc,...but I'll be getting my feet wet before long and able to hit the ground running come cabin weather this winter.

I read daily here and other places,.looking at build logs etc,. One thing that I consistently see is builders referencing running out of space. I do find that a bit odd,....this hobby srikes me as the main passion for some of you guys,...especially those lifetimers that's been doing it for 30+ years. I have my lifetimes hobbies,..mainly hunting,.and a room dedicated to it...while it is tight there is always room for one more deerhead lol. In my mind I simply assumed those that have this as their #1 had a room or a basement or addition stacked with models but with the attitude there is always room for 1 more Smile Just an observation. These planes are going to add some color and history to my trophy room and shop...not sure how many would be too many but hopefully I'll find out down the road. Thank you gents for all the info you  post..- Aaron

Hey that's cool!!!

If you have any questions there's plenty of people around here willing to help.

I think the whole thing about running out of space is mostly unstarted kits. Always quicker to buy a new kit than to finish one. I'm living proof!!!

As Gamera said, you'll find plenty of help here should you need it. If not, we'll enjoy seeing pics once your phone and computer kiss and make up.
