Nice shots Chris. I always liked the Stirling. Got the old Airfix kit put away. Want to do a Glider tug out of it. Nothing like a 4 engined bomber with invasion stripes.
Also like the little tractor and bomb carts that came with it. Got other ideas on where to use them.

Very nice - a pity it's performance was governed by the size of hangers, packing crates and a desire by the men from the Ministry not to upset farmers. Otherwise a very solid and good a/c!

I can provide a coloured copy of the photo shown in the last mentioned site (weathering) - it appeared on a copy of Aeroplane recently and was issued by teh MOD during the war. Let me know if required - it may take a day or so to retrieve it from the mass of "paper" I seem to accumulate

Since there are some Stirling fans here, may I recommend "A Thousand Shall Fall" by Murray Peden. He did a tour on Stirlings before being converted to RAF B-17's in the ECM role.

His book also has some great pictures in it and is a very entertaining read. I last spoke to Mr. Peden in 1984 and he was hale and hearty then and living in Winnipeg ...

Sorry Greg, but I'm afraid you are certifiable!! As you bought YET ANOTHER Lanc, why not do something worthwhile with it and get the Mk2 conversion with the Hercules engines?

In the queue: 1/48 Beech Staggerwing (RAAF), P38 (RAAF), Vultee Vengeance (RAAF), Spitfire Vb (Malta), Spitfire VIII x2 (RAAF), P39 x2 (RAAF), Martin Baltimore (Malta?), Martin Maryland (Malta), Typhoon NF1b, Hellcat x2 (FAA)

thats EXACTLY what i am going to do with one of the Lancs i already have (even scrapped an airfix Halifax for its engines). this one will either be a Canadien drone carrier or a lancastrian, or maybe that swedish engine testbed. hmmm decisions decisions.......

What a strange fellow you are Mr Gregory - how can you abuse a Halifax so -a truly amazing aeroplane and by the view of many, the choice above a Lancaster - much easier from which to exit for example, when in a spot of bother. However there is no accounting for taste! I presume you will get the bits from Aeroclub to enhance the appearance. Incidentally I am having trouble ascertaining the whereabouts of Stirling colour picture - thus it may take a little while to present you with a copy; so sorry!

gregers:
Since you are cogitating over how to present your latest baby to the world once all is said and assembled, may I humbly suggest doing her up in 1950's RCAF livery, with the PR camera installations?

IMO perhaps the best looking Lanc, and a worthy display next to the war machines ... "swords into plowshares" is the motto on the 408 squadron memorial when they were using these aircraft to map most of Canada.

For your consideration,
Bruce

midduppergunner...the Halifax that sacrificed its life for this conversion was a very early effort of mine and was all rivets and glue "welds" down the joint lines (and gaps) an wasn't in the best of health either with missing/broken bits an such so it was struck off charge for parts reclaimation (and will be replaced some time soon).

Bruce.....i have got six lancs to build 2 revell and 4 airfix. one revell will be the dambuster and one airfix will be a grand slam aircraft another airfix will be S-SUGAR and another will be the B2 that leaves me with one of each and i am thinking that the revell could be done as a manchester (got the conversion plans) and the other airfix as possably a Canadian a/c as i have got some canadian roundels and fuselage stripes to use up and something different from green/grey/black would be nice. the other alternatives are an engine test bed (either British or Swedish) a lancastrian or an air sea rescue a/c with a lifeboat slung underneath.
as i said before....decisions ....decisions. still like the drone carrier tho with it being all silver and red Big Smile [:D]
regards.

It is very nice to hear that you seem totally absorbed and happy - which of course is precisely what it is all about - I find it difficult committing myself to building the same type (even with mods) and so you have my admiration for stamina. Best wishes.
