Wow, that's a neat turboprop conversion on the S-2! Very cool photos! Thanks for sharing.

Hey Andrew - thanks!  My little airport has a fly-in every year and you can get up close and personal.  Here's a few of the Bronco.

And the two S2s at the base

Chad - this is from the Cal Fire site re the Bronco

CAL FIRE uses the OV-10s as the primary command and control platform on wildland incidents. The air attack officer, a highly trained and experienced fire officer, coordinates with the incident commander on the ground, providing an unique aerial perspective on fire conditions, anticipated resource needs and potential threats to life and property. The Air Attack Officer is also responsible for the safe coordination of all aerial resources on an incident and where to make retardant and water drops based upon the Incident Commander’s control objectives. The OV-10 can be utilized as a lead plane, for Very Large Air Tankers (VLAT) when not assigned as a command and control platform.

Thanks,

John

Nice work Keavdog!

I don't see fire liveries built too often. I agree about Draw Decal! I think they have an awesome selection with quality sets. I haven't seen Broncos yet in person, but would love to. Great job again!

Thanks Buckskinner.  I live about 4 miles from the Ramona fire attack base and see the S2s and Broncos quite often.  I'm also about 20 miles from Miramar and see v22 ospreys on a daily basis.

For decals see Draw.  Very fine decals, little more work than traditional as they are on continuous film, but really nice:  https://www.shopdrawdecal.com/searchresults.asp?searching=Y&sort=1&cat=2190&show=40&page=1

Thanks Ortiz!  I love the sound of the S2s twin turboprops.

Thanks,

John

Hey John,

Nice work. That's a good looking Bronco.

The Bronco's a cool sounding aircraft. I was out camping in San Bernardino National Forest in Sothern California this past weekend and got to see a Cal Fire OV-10 and a pair of S-2 Trackers buzzing the peak.

Again, great looking build.

Cheers!

Howdy, "keavdog"...

Beautiful, Beautiful work and finished displays! I live 1/4 mile from a CalFire Base in Fresno, CA... My home is directly under the glide path for the USAF Air Nat'l Guard's 144th Attack Squadron's 24 F-15s, Lemoore's F-18s, Edwards AFB's F-35s, US Army's Blackhawks, Cobras... and CalFire's KC- 10s, OV-10s, Various Helicopters - And the Revered P2v Neptunes and S-2 Trackers - which I used to watch - my face pressed against the chain-link fence at the US Naval Station as they were operational as Real Sub-Hunters during The Viet-Nam War, and The Cold War...

YOUR DISPLAYS are absolutely Perfect... and Beautiful! I've got a question for you, Sir; Where can I find the decals for the CalFire 1/48 S-2? -Your models are AWESOME, my friend!

Well done, John.  I can't see the winshield wiper from here.  It will  look real good in the display case.

Calling this one done.  There's a winshield wiper on the windscreen that just tanks the whole glass.  Ah well, it's done and looks good with its sister.

Thanks,

John

Hello;

Now this is what I like to see. There's nothing better than a re-purposed Warbird that is a useful and versatile aircraft. Good job there,Young Man!

Cool pic john.  I grew up about a mile from mclellan afb, my dad's last duty before returning.

The only decals available are for the older scheme.  Same paint job but the newer scheme has the cool font.

Thanks,

John

Tried to do that last night, no joy.  Used a different email app today, worked.

It's going to be a pretty one.  I have a picture on my phone that a friend texted me of a row of them, just showing the tails over at McClellan.  Can't figure out how to send it to my computer.

John easiest way is to email it to yourself

John the Bronco is looking awesome.

Put the gloss white down a bit heavy.  And then the red - I hate red/white... worst combo to paint unless you add some yellow.  Anyhow - had some good masking and some bad.  Wing tips are solid.  Vertical stabilizers have bleed and I masked the top at the wrong angle.  Yay, something to fix :/   anyhow - fix this then it's gear, decals and canopy so making progress

Thanks,

John

Working through some filling and sanding.  Getting there.  A bit concerned about the multipart canopy...

Thanks,

John

Yes, this is the academy kit.  Minor fit issues.  The plastic is very soft and easy to sand.  Decals are from Draw.

Thanks,

John

Fotofrank,

The kit is the Academy OV-10. Revell Germany just issued a reboxing.

Thanks. So it is a nice kit.

OK. In the stash: Way too much to build in one lifetime...
