Some of those old Lindberg kits are junk, others with a little extra work, turn out pretty nice. The JN-4 is another of their better kits.

Greg, I have that kit, partially built sitting on the shelf of doom. Sure would like to finish it. Your build really looks nice. Very well done. How did you paint the engine/cowl?

I brush-painted the engine portion and the cowling interior using good old Testors 'square bottle' enamels (my standard pick for detailing), then masked with Silly Putty and sprayed with Tamiya acrylic. [If you look closely, you can see where a tiny wisp of the blue crept under the putty. Didn't really notice it till just now! ]

Thanks, Greg. I'll have to try that. The engine/cowling are what's holding me back.

OK. In the stash: Way too much to build in one lifetime...

Everything came out looking great on this! Ya gotta love those Golden Wings USN Aircraft. Probably the ultimate in colorful markings.

This was a relaxing OOB build between more complicated projects.

Lindberg's ancient F11C-2 Goshawk is basic as nails, but a nice straightforward molding. It's fairly clean compared to many of their other contemporary offerings (in terms of mold-release pits and such), with no detail to speak of, but captures the sort of stumpy blowfly look of many of the between-the-wars fighters rather nicely. Color scheme via the single kit decal option, but those decals went down beautifully. Rigging with EZ-Line.
