So...Would two or more be a 'pillage' of Norsemen?? (Revell 1/72)

Raymond, apologies for not answering your query sooner, but I must have completely missed it when you posted. Thanks for taking the time to reply, and really sorry for the delay.

The CF-SAM markings were one of two options provided on the Revell kit sheet, straight OOB. I probably have the second unused set around (since when it comes to decals, I never throw anything out!), so if you're still around...and still interested...let me know, and I'll see if I can lay hands on them.

Excellent! CF-SAM is in the WDM museum close to me. I built the Matchbox version of the Manitoba flying services version. Where did you get the decals for CF-SAM?

Greg, scored this today at a pick in a friend's attic. After reading your thread yesterday, when I saw the kit I couldn't resist. I'm a huge fan of "Captains of the Clouds" too. I never miss the movie when it airs on TCM. Not sure how I'm going to build it as of yet. I'll probably go with USAAF colors though. Doesn't Buffalo Joe fly one of these out of Yellowknife?

A really nice bit of work on the Norseman pair, well detailed and good paint schemes. I flew into a fishing resort in Canada several years ago, and one airplane that was a regular visitor bringing others to the resort was a Norseman. First and last one that I ever saw, gotta be a rugged old bugger to keep working all that many years.

The pilot said it had been rebuilt twice, following wrecks. Not a friendly flying environment I guess.

There's been an ongoing discussion on another forum about what differentiates the different marks of Norseman production...and how Matchbox apparently combined elements from different versions into their model design.

The long and short of it seems to be that the farther-removed from the war years things got, the more any available parts from different models were 'scrounged' and adapted to keep these machines flying. Since many operated in remote corners like the one you mentioned, it was a feat simply to keep them in the air at all, as hard-used as they tended to be. But it was a rugged and reliable basic design, and it still soldiers on!
