Its been 2 and a half years since i built a 72nd Stuka, so i am well over due one. I don't usually do a second variant of any subject, but despite haveing already built Rudels R-2, i have wanted to build this aircraft for years. I do like German aircraft with the yellow markings from the Balkans campaign, so this one really got my attention.
I'll be useing the tried and trusted Fujimi kit along with Eduard PE and resin exhausts. Decals will be some generic sets.
As usual, i started on the pit.
After primer and paint, it got a flory wash and some dry brushing.
The pit was then fitted, fuselage put together and the wings, added. The seat belts, radio's and a few other bits have been left out to avoid getting in the way of the fuselage fit. I'll add those later.
More soon.
I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so
On the bench: Airfix 1/72nd Harrier GR.3/Fujimi 1/72nd Ju 87D-3
I love the Balkans liveries! Wow. that's a ton of etch in that front office. Of course I'm in on this one.

At the plate: 1/48 Airfix Bf109 & 1/35 Tamiya Famo
On deck: Who knows!
Always an interesting subject. I don't know much about these as I haven't built a Stuka yet. Looks pretty cool. I'll be watching.

Thanks Trey.
I'm going to have to look into this Fujimi Stuka kit. I like Fujimi and have a couple on my shelf, notably their A-1 Skyraider.
OK. In the stash: Way too much to build in one lifetime...
Great looking cockpit!

Thanks for looking in guys. Should have another update at the weekend.
frank, they are not the most accurate, they are a tad over sized, and some detail is lacking such as the rear MG, but i really like them. Nice fit, not over complicated, just a good solid build.
fotofrank I'm going to have to look into this Fujimi Stuka kit. I like Fujimi and have a couple on my shelf, notably their A-1 Skyraider.
tempestjohnnyHmm Bish doing a Stuka. How interesting
I know, who would have expected that
Got the major parts together and ready for painting.
After priming i added the canopy, which had already been painted RLM 02. I am useing Montex vinyl masks. These have to be the worst modelling product ever created. This is the 3rd of their sets i have used and this is the worst yet. On my Bf 109's it was just the curved pieces that lifted. Now even some of the flat pieces are. I have several more sets to use and am in half a mind to throw them in the bin.
I have started painting since i took these so should have that done by mid week.
I'm with you on those masks. I've never used one that didn't lift on curved pieces!
I know there are other brands of these out there, i am guessing they will be the same. Best just to stick to Eduard, never had an issue with those.
Looking good so far. Following along.
Thanks Hoss.
Looking great Buddy! I gave up on Montex masks they really are horrible
Your Stuka is looking great. I'm looking forward to seeing it finished. I completely agree about the canopy masks. All the vinyl ones I tried lifted badly.
Tom
Cheers guys. I had heard a number of people who has similar experiance with these masks. But this is really the worse set yet.
Time for paint and decals. I did the camo, blue first and then the 2 greens on top. Once dry i masked and did the yellow. I aplied 2 thin coats and its come out well. I had to polish down some raised edges around the masking tape, normal for me on a Stuka, but i am pretty pleased with the yellow.
I changed the settings on the camera slightly and this shows the yellow much better.
And then the decals. These are from spares and generic sets. The number 5 is not the same style as shown on some profiles but i didn't have any in that style and a couple of profiles do show as i have done. If it is wrong, i will live with that.
Forgot to take pics of the underside, bt just the crosses there. next will be some flory washes.
This makes me think we're overdue for a Luftwaffe GB!
Cheers guys.
Chad, i think you might be right. I think its been a few years since we had a Luftwaffe relate GB. I think i might have somthing in the stash.
Mopar Madness This makes me think we're overdue for a Luftwaffe GB!
Once the British army GB was over, i was thinking of taking a break from hosting GB's for 6 months. There has not been a day when i have not been hosting one since 2012. But what the hell, why not keep it going.
Rather than a certain type as we usually have, i was thinking of a manufacturer, Messerschmitt, Junkers, something on those lines.
Thoughts.
That's a really good idea Bish!
I will give it some thought and put out a feeler, i am thinking the middle of the year. Of course, if someone else starts one up, i'll be in there.
Nice work again! Reminds me I have a few of these to build myself. Been using the Eduard masks for the Fujimi kits and have no complaints about them.
On Ed's bench, ???
