Apparently, yes, that was the cause of the issue.

 

I was unaware of that, after seeing pictures with the later bubble canopy where it would go slack. I was told the earlier rectangular canopies did have the tensioner and it wouldn't be slack, so I fixed it.

Now that is a beautiful paint job! Did the early style canopies on those D-9's still have the spring tensioner for the antenna? Sweet looking bird!!

I just replaced the wire. It is just that elastic rigging stuff.

My first luftwaffe paint job. I have since fixed the slack on the radio wire.
