I admit I do not now nor ever have played golf. However, if the "three footer" reference is meant as a derogatory comment on your build, I think you're too hard on yourself - as others have said.

I think you sank a 7 footer here. Nice work!

Hi;

  You know when I was a kid I thought that was NOT a real plane. The Elevators,and that Tall tail. Just didn't conform to what I had seen in say F-86s or F-100s. I like it now though.

Looks fantastic! Pictures bring out all the flaws, and it looks much better than a 3 footer to me

That turned out great! I think my dad still has his in the box back when he bought it in '84 or so. Still hadn't gotten around to building it.

Very nice!  I like that you noticed that the drop tanks were painted while hung on the pylons. I am working on an F-100 and it's the same deal.

Hi, "O" - Stik is right, it's much better than a three footer. It really is about personal criticism, you made a first rate job of your '84, it's better than you rate it.

Thanks for the post and photos.

Nice - I'm a big fan of that airframe the the crazy articulated canopy.  Just finished the Trumpeter kit a few months ago.  I dig those big open mouth birds!

Thanks,

John

Say what you will. We are all our own worst critics. But I think that this came out much better than a “three footer”.  I like the splotchy look of the camo.

Hey FSM,

I hope everyone is safe and well. Since I've been hunkered down at home, I used the time to slap together another 3-footer for my shelf. I pulled out Monogram's venerable F-84F (circa 1983) and built it mostly OOB. I say "mostly" because I had to replace the pitot using some styrene rod, and the flimsy tube/rod on the nose gear using some fine wire. Fit was decent, but there was some issues with the canopy parts. They were all different widths and none of them lined up with the fuselage halves. I did what I could. For finishing, I used the kit's decals, and they worked OK. Paint was MM enamels, and weathering was Flory's washes and pastels.

Comments, questions, and criticisms welcome. Feel free to share your two cents.

Stay well and happy modeling!

Cheers,

-O
