MB13 - That's just a dynamite model, and the finish is nothing short of exceptional. Whatever it is that you do for a finish like that, you have it wired.

Thanks for satisfying my curiousity about the paint. I had noticed how well the paint laid down and the details really pop for a brush paint job. You created a fine example of what Vallejo can do if done right.

Sounds like you found out the Model Air is not too much fun to brush paint.

The Air had some kind of bigger pigments in it or something and it shows a lot when it dries, wich the Model doesn't have at all. I tough the paints were the same but the Air was just thinned down a bit, but there is a difference between the 2 for sure.

Well said, I agree. What a great job you did. If I knew my you know what from a hole in the ground when it comes to brush-painting, you'd have me re-thinking the whole process, but alas, such is not the case.

That cockpit and pilot figure are excellent, too.

If I may ask, and I know it the skill of the user, not the raw materials, but what brand(s) of paint did you use?

I don't think I'm that skilled yet it's just my 2nd build so still a lot to be learned, but I use Vallejo paints and primer, I thing they do a great job. I use Vallejo Model and thin it 1:1 paint and water, and I apply many thin layers and let them dry at least 3 to 4 hours before the next coat.

I tried the Vallejo Air but did not get the same results so went back to Model.

That is an excellent looking build! Did you use any masking to get those nice straight color lines?

 

Thanks Stikpusher!! No I did not use masking tape, I did all the camo free hand with brushes, a round one for the contour and a flat for the interior.

More like ninja brushing skills, that is spectacular! As the decals go, manufacturer quality is all over the board, no two sets act alike. And....a gunship gray "C" is not unheard of, the fighter wing at Lakenheath, England painted one up in that color just last year for a DDay commemorative flight. Furball decals sells a set of those markings.

You could have fooled me, it looks really good. I highly reccomend Solvaset decal solution. The stuff does wonders on stubburn decals.
