Gidday

What would be an appropriate colour interior green for a mid-war (late 1943 with red insignia surrounds) F6F-3 Hellcat? I have the aeromaster decal set US navy and marines WW2 aces and was thinking of doing the aircraft of Alex Vraciu.
In the booklet accompanying the set it states that during the pacific campaign the colours varied greatly. Until they set the colour at a standard. But then It says that they might of used an olive green on most grumman fighters and this is where I start to get confused. So I thought I'd ask the experts Wink [;)].

Thanks in advance.

Using Model Master enamels as a reference, cockpit interior would be Interior Green. Wheel bays were usually painted in the same color as the undersurface, White in this case, although some may have been in Yellow Zinc Chromate. Inside surfaces of landing gear and tail wheel covers were Yellow Zinc Chromate although the undersurface color ( White ) was also used. Check photos of the bird you are modeling if possible. Even B&W photos can give you a good clue if you look for tonal differences.
