Thanks, y'all! I used Gunze semi-gloss clear. Those decals...acted like they had no adhesive on them, they curled up so easy. So far, it's a negative 2 impact for the stash, 3 purchases, and 5 builds. 67 left, want to be back under 40.

It looks great! I have actually had issues with Academy decals in the past too.

It still looks good! That stinks when you have a nice build and the decals betray you. At least you didn't clear coat them, so you can remove them and replace with aftermarket if you want.

What did you use for the gloss coat before applying the decals?

Well, this is my fifth build this year, third since I got furloughed at the beginning of April. It's Academy's gentleman's scale F-35A kit. About this kit: shape is great, it gives you "beast mode" pylons, which I like and I think will be more generally seen, especially during our continued involvement in the ME, it fits well except for the cockpit and also the canopy where it hits the instrument hood. Decals were practically unusable, though I got some on. That ruined me on this kit. I wanted it on the shelf, so I threw the final bits on, and skipped the clearcoat since the decals were continuing to roll up. I was happy with the color, Gunze #32 Yokosuka Naval Yard grey, darkened with some black and a few drops of stainless steel. 5 day build because it builds quick, and lost enthusiasm for the decals.
