Thanks for the replies.
I had noticed those gaps, but couldn't see how they affected things.
Somehow after the 100th dry fit trying to figure it out, and putting some downward pressure on the engine, it fit together. Still might need a little filler on the starboard side.

much appreciated

I just wrapped one of these up a couple weeks ago and mine fit pretty snuggly. Based on what I'm seeing, it looks like the culprit is the lower wing. there appears to be a gap where the lower cowl and wing connect to the fuselage. I have circled it in red and it looks like the gap is the same size as what you see in your first photo.  Going through the build sequence in my mind, the only thing I could think of would be to start shaving off the front of the lower cowl until you get the fit you need.

I justlooked at mine.  It, too has a gap there, but not as noticable.  How does the cowling fit without the motor installed?  Perhaps the curvd section of the wing root needs to be shaved down a bit.

I build 1/48 scale WW2 fighters.

Have fun.

Hi all,

I'm having a fairly bad fit issue with the engine cowling and engine on this kit.

Seems the engine is stopping the cowling from sitting correctly, though I cannot see why. The engine connects to the body via a semicircular join, so it can only go on one way.

I did have a slight gap on the underside of the aircraft, that I filled. Everything else lines up well, so I guess that issue Is not propagating through to the from if you get me.

here's a few photos

Notice with this next photo, the join area is not a perfect semi-circle. the engine seems to fit snugly though.

Perhaps the biggest tell tale is this front on view with the engine in. The hole for the propeller is not centred.
