Fw 190D-9 Painting Help
Posted by Viper101 on Friday, May 8, 2020 6:07 PM

Hi everyone,

I am almost done with Eduard's Fw 190D-9 Weekend edition (it's taken a bit more than a weekend!), but I have run into a bit of an issue. I don't have an RLM 74. I do have an assortment of Tamiya greens and greys though.

I'm planning to mix 2 parts XF-26 (deep green) and 1 part XF-63 (German grey) (or 22/RLM Grey). Does anyone have any advice for, or experience with, this?

Please let me know!

Thanks,

Alex

Edit: And before you tell me to go research it, I have spent the past 48 hours searching the internet, using iModelKit, and comparing paint charts before I came here. So, I've done my research, and haven't found much of anything conclusive.

This chart has Tamiya mixes for RLM 74/75/76

I cant say how accurate the mix is, but at least its a formula. Doesn’t the instruction sheet have a mix ratio on there also? Or just their AS spray can color call out. I’m pretty sure that their FW-190A3 kit has the mix ration that  instruction sheet.

EDIT- sorry I was thinking that you had the Tamiya Dora kit.

If you have an assortment of Tamiya colors, their instructions for various 190s and 109s call out XF-24:3+XF-27:2 for RLM 74. Hope this helps.
