Thanks, Hoss.

So, basically, it was a Claude with gull wings?

Bruce, I wouldn't say the fuselage or tail were translated directly either, but very similar.  The Claude is thicker in every direction but you can tell it grew from the Ka-14 in most details especially the cockpit setup.

Nice!  I like the unique lines and the gull wings. Smooth and clean finish. I also like your lineup.

John,

Great job this unique aircraft. And fantastic job painting the Hinomarus. Eventually, I want to do this too.

So, basically, it was a Claude with gull wings?

Thanks, Rob and JBR.

You must mean the Minicraft XF5F, Rob.  Don't know why that one hasn't got to the top of the list here.

That came out great, I have a 1/72 kit  of it in my stash that I was looking at the other day. I might have to move it up on my to do list.

Nice build. Kind of reminds me of the US twin engined plane that was featured in the Black Hawk comic book series that was eventually released as a kit.

Good job, I like one offs.

This is Mitsubishi Zero designer Jiro Horikoshi's first effort.   No unit markings as this airplane was a one off prototype.  This airplane was featured in the"The Wind Rises", an animated autobiography of Horikoshi.  A second prototype was built without the gull wing, and that wing made its way on to the the A5M4 Claude.  What a shame, the gull wing is so graceful.

Tamiya XF-14 is the overall color, Gunze Mr Color 128 is supposed to be equivalent but I didn't have any of that.  Tamiya X-7 Red and X-1 Black for the trim, and Gunze Mr Color Cowling Color for the cowl.  Hinomarus are XF-7 Flat Red.  Alclad II Matte clear coat.

Mr Color 126 Mitsubishi interior green.  The kit supplies two instrument panels, on flat intended for the decal, the other with relief.  The decal was applied to the one with relief and responded well to Microsol.
