Any suggestions in working with these, detaching from spues,assembling, and painting.

Tony,

Kind of like resin, which it may even be, although styrene cement works. Really brittle, and I don't know how to take advantage of the fact that they are clear. 

Sometimes you know it helps to chop up the sprue in sections first. That avoids having multiple attachment points break while you are scutting one, breaking usually where you don't want it to.

Clip down to a stub and sand.

Glue with solvent.

Prime, as flash on a clear part can be hard to see.

Somebody at steelnavy says prime them on the sprue to see better.

By a solvent,you mean like Tamiya extra thin

Yes. The Trumpeter stuff does take a while to set up.

I don't prime them- brush paint because masking canopy is hard.  I paint area around cockit black to increase feeling ofdepth in cockpit, then paint fuselage over black.  I sometimes airbrush wings on sprue if seperate pieces, since they usually don't require masking.
