1/72 hasegawa f-4 b/n phantom

I'm thinking about building this kit.  Looks like it doesn't come with a bomb load.  I could use some help figuring out what aftermarket parts I need.  I was reading a blog about a load that was 12 mk82 with 3 aim-7 sparrows and an ALG-119 under wing.  I know nothing about phantoms so have no idea if that makes sense.  If so I guess the mk82s would have to be on the centerline?

I've never built a model of a jet so really any help would be appreciated....

I’ve never seen a USN or USMC Phantom carrying any ALQ ECM pods. Those are USAF items. Ordnance load outs depend upon mission tasking. In most any case two or four AIM-7s will be carried in the fuselage wells. TERs can be can be carried on the inboard pylons, and MERs under the centerline and outboard pylons. Ordnance carried on those can be Mk. 80 series bombs, LAU type rocket pods, napalm cans, or CBUs. There are so many possibilities.

Thanks stikpusher,

indeed, there are so many options.  I would love to know a typical load on a USMC aircraft.  I think I want to do the marine version of that kit.

Regards,

Phil

Then I would ask what time frame that you’re looking at? Marine F-4s did a lot of close air support and interdiction missions, as well as some counter air and CAP stuff... Are you looking at Vietnam or later?

Definitely Vietnam and close air support.

Here’s a couple similar configurations. One with Mk.82 Snakeyes on inboard TERs, twin Zuni tubes on inboard pylon missile rails and three napalm cans on centerline MER. The other has inboard pylon TERs and centerline MER w/ Mk.82 LDGP bombs, plus the inboard missile rail twin Zuni tubes.

Lots of Snakeyes and Napalm....

no external tanks so it has to be a local area

Thanks again.

Looks like the twin zuni tubes was pretty common.  Sadly Hasegawa doesn't seem to sell that in any of their weapons sets....

The Marine napalm cans also look like a premium after market addition.  I have to say they are very cool looking though, so I might spring for them.

Started the build. I've been looking through pics in the Marine F4 in Vietnam Osprey title. I see some with a pair of 4 tube zuni launchers on each inboard pylon. Were these hung from a TER, do you know? I'm thinking I'll put an MER on the centerline and hang Mk 82s from it. The Hasegawa kit and weapon boxes don't come with a pylon for that, so I'll have to djinn up something.
