FS Color or close
Posted by IBuild148 on Tuesday, June 30, 2020 8:12 PM

I am getting ready to start a B-25J using Kits World Devil dog Marines decals, KW148097.

The aircraft is B-25PBJ-1J Marines Devil Dog.

I was wondering what FS, Blue color was used on this aircraft?

Thank you for reading and keep modeling.

Buy this.

I don't know the answer but my guess would be Dark Sea Blue over Insignia White.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

The CAF restoration is overall sea blue.

Kit World Decals indicate overall Sea Blue.

The aircraft itself.

On a side note, There never was a scheme of sea blue over white.

The three color camo was dark sea blue, itermediate blue and white.

FS 15042 Glossy Sea Blue.  Tamiya's Navy Blue rattle can in the AS series is close.  Glossy Sea Blue is a different color than the Dark Sea Blue used in the Three Color Scheme and postwar aircraft.

I'd agree with the glossy sea blue (or midnight blue), but that CAF B-25 looks like Blue Angels Blue to me.  Too light.  And the KIt's World sheet is for the CAF aircraft, so it's probably not a good reference for a WW II Marine PBJ.

Thank you all for chiming in. I’m going with the Tamiya's Navy Blue rattle can in the AS series. I’ll do a base coat of flat white fist.
