I built this scene for the "Forgotten War" Group build ( I also plastered it over several facebook groups, so if you have seen it before, I apologize...)
The kits used were Airfix 1/72 Scale F86 Sabre and Eduard 1/72 MiG 15. I finished both of them with Vallejo Metal Air paints, Dark Aluminum for the MiG and Duraluminum and picked out some panels with bothe dark aluminum and aluminum, for the Sabre.
The pilot figures are both from PJM, The MiG pilot is from their WWII fighter pilot set (closest one to the soviet flight suit in Korea) and The Sabre Pilot is their Korean War US Navy Pilot set.
The base is just several pieces of Expanded PolyStyrene Foam (insulation foam board available in any big box home improvement store), cut to size, hot glued together, painted with a ModPodge/black craft paint blend and sprayed with Satin Black Krylon. The backdrop is a photo I took from Google Earth of 'MiG Alley' and adjusted in snapseed and printed 13x19"
Enjoy!

Mortal as I am,I know that I am born for a day. But when I follow at my pleasure the serried multitude of the stars in their circular course, my feet no longer touch the Earth...
Beautifully done . What do you think of the vallejo metal paint? And for giggles what would the last pic look in black and white ?
Nick.
Love it! Very nice. I have used google earth photos for several bases so far. I am planning one now of a Russian aerobatic jet over the Paris airshow.
Previously did a Navy dirigible over Lakehurst and a B-47 over McDill.

Nice! I first got the idea when helping my 5 year old daughter with her pinewood derby car last year. She wanted a rainbow ending in a cloud, and I came up with the idea to take a google image of a place that her name comes from (her name is Aine-pronounced Anya, in Celtic folklore, Aine was the goddes of fertility and love), a place in Ireland, print a photo of Killaine hill and epoxy it to the body of the carand affix a wooden rainbow with a real metal pot o' gold at the end of it for the weight. she won a design award for that car!

Thank you! I like them. I have tried Testors Metalizers in the past and could never get them to work for me, but the vallejo metals are easy to work with, and can easily be brushed on and be just as effective.
Here is a quickly converted to black and white version:
I think it looses a little depth, but it does appear to be combat footage now...
thats cool!!
