Tamiya P-38 kit decals and other details White 33
Posted by D4379 on Sunday, July 12, 2020 11:28 AM

I have gotten farily far with the  plane now. Turns out the painting guide drawings were scale so I copied them and cut them apart and used them as masks. The olive drab seems  a bit darker then the spray can number on the plans but it came out okay. I set the cutouts on putty so there is a soft edge. This is my first attempt at this and my second try with an airbrush. My question to those that have built this model is there are nearly a hundred little tiny decals. How do you attach them if you even use them. Also unfortunately I destroyed the 33 for the tail by accident and the prop markings. I contacted Tamiya but they said it would be four months to get decals. Any suggestions? I am thinking about copying the drawings and using them as a mask and spraying the number, thoughts? Are there other P-38 decal sets that might work on this plane to make up for what I destroyed. By the way this is a well engineered kit, worth the money.
