OK, Chaps,

Boss at HK Models has given me permission to post my build. This is destined to be on their stand at Telford this November at SMW.

There are some changed and updated parts which I will note during the build. Also he has told me to jazz it up as much as I want :)

I like it. Even larger would be great. I'd build the tail including stab and rudders and turret, maybe tail wheel.

Real G

There have been snarky remarks over on another forum, with people suggesting follow-up kits to be just the landing gear, or engine nacelle, or the left stabilizer.  These people need to go outside and be forced to work at a soup kitchen for a week to see that there are larger scale problems in the world.

The Lanc nose is not on my list, but I‘m sure I’ll be seeing super detailed examples online as well as at contests.  Perhaps HK could take a page from ZM’s playbook and offer an accessory set of highly detailed resin crew in action poses.  (And they would be useful in other RAF kits as well.)

Snapdragonxxx, I’m sure your kit build will look superb.

Thats pretty funny

Like those Esci F-16 cockpits, waiting for the rest of the plane

This is kind of a cool idea. Large scale nose only builds of famous planes. That would actually make a very cool display. All the different AC could be represented and create and whole new niche in modeling. Even larger scale nose only like 1/18 detailed to the extreme would be super cool. I like it.

Thanks for the input.

Just because it is not something huge in a big box which has never been hinted at by HK Models and has made those "in the know" who are obviously revealed as "not in the know" look foolish then they get snarky, stick their bottom lip out snd sulk like the petulant children they are. The "Rumour Mill" got it wrong..... or did they? It is large scale and has new parts in the box!

As an after thought I did miss this:

For which I am sorry.

My build is destined for HK's stand at SMW this November (if it happens) and I have been granted permission to go to town on it.

I will check with HK for permission and if I get it I will post the build up here.

HK Models 1/32 Lancaster Nose Art release 2020

HK Models' latest release seems to have disappointed a few people and reviewers with this as the rumour mill had got all hyped up for another big box full of plastic.

However, this is a logical release with a surprise inside the box. It will be welcome to modellers who don't have the room for the full size Lancaster in 1/32 scale and this cut down of just the nose section of the kit will make an excellent display in the cabinet. If this release proves to be successful sales wise then there could be a line of them.

A small box this time with a larger section of the original release artwork which will stand out on shelves in shops.

Inside the box is the parts from the Lancaster kit for the nose area. There are some new parts too of which one may raise eyebrows.

This is a new sprue. It builds up to provide the stand that the Lancaster nose sits on. You could make your own, but a paint job on this would be quite nice I think.

With the original first kit release you got this:

The frame and rib detail detracted from the interior detail.

With this release you get this:

The internal frame and stringer detail has been removed and there are just panel lines on the exterior. This is in response to builders feedback and I think that adding the riveting patterns on the exterior would not harm the view into the interior. We will have to see what happens in future kits.

The decals are cartograf and there are 4 nose art choices.

If none of those are what you are looking for Kits World have a selection of different Lancaster decal sets for you to choose from.

This is a surprise to many who had build themselves up to a big kit and are out there voicing their disappointment but I think that it is a nice thing that model builders would like to have in their display cabinets and there could be many under the tree this Christmas.
