PoorTopcoat finish
Posted by David80 on Wednesday, July 22, 2020 7:22 AM

I have been building a revel Lancaster and Recently applied the wing decals using micro sol and micro set.  After a good 24 hrs I sprayed the wings with Tamiya ts79 semi gloss clear.  Instead of a fine covering of topcoat the paint has formEd small bubbles of paint over much of the decal surface.  I painted over a small portion with pledge thinking it would level out and hide the bubbles, but to  no effect.

I don't want to try fine sanding as that would scratch the surface.  Not sure what to try next.  Any ideas out there.  Maybe there's a way to removed the topcoat without damaging the surface finish or decals?

This sounds familiar.  You might want to ask in the Painting & Airbrushing forum, too.  I think there was a discussion of this issue or a similar one there.

Did you glosscoat the decal area with Pledge, by any chance?
