Excellent finish Bish. The single color scheme is very different.

Thanks guys.

BK, i have only seen 2 before. The 72nd one jack did a couple of years ago, Revell kit i think. And a 1/32nd kit at one of our model club night.

John, i might well do that.

Well done, Martin.  If the He 219 is done it would be fun to see them together.

I know I've never seen one that looked anything like this. Very cool scheme, well done!

AMy second kit wrapped up tonight. I added a light Flory was and some exhaust staining to weather and the last bits were fitted.

And then to the base. The ground crew man is Airfix and the pilots, one is a CMK resin piece and the other 2 preiser figures.

Another nice kit from Fine Molds, i have another G-10 in the stash to do another NJG 11 NF from the same decal sheet as well as their K-4. I can deffinetly recomend them.

That is a unique scheme indeed. It looks pretty cool. I love having kits on display that other builders just don't see. Very cool.

I agree Chad, i was surprised when i first saw one. I have got another one of these FM kits to do another aircraft on the decal sheet. That has quite an unsual scheme but with more colours that includes camo upper wings. But i thought i would do this one first.

A very unique 109 Bish.  Very rare to see these late war variants in just one color!

Thanks John. I had not seen it until a few years back when a guy at our club did one in 32nd scale. The first German nightfighters were all black. Then they started to use dark greys and the colours seem to have got lighter. Apparently the darker colours could be seen at quite a distance, especially at higher altitudes. Not sure why, doesn't seem to make sense. But i guess the Germans had plenty of practice dealing with night raids.

Just about done with that one!  I've never seen that varient/color scheme - I suppose there's a couple dozen luftwaffe schemes I haven't seen.  Interesting choice as most air force go dark for night fighters.

Thanks,

John

Fine Molds 1/72nd Bf 109G-10

This will be my second Fine Molds aircraft after building one of their Me 410's last year. I really liked that so am looking forward to this one. It will be built as a Nightfighter of NJG 11 in all over RLM 76. I'll be useing AM decals and well as an Fine Molds PE set, resin exhaust and master metal gun barrels.

The 109 cockpit is sparesely fitted out. The AM PE set from Fine Molds is, not very large. I added the fuel line with some wire painted yellow. But i do think there is enough in there for a pit this size. haveing done several 109 pits with lots of PE and resin that you can't see, this is a nice change.

The final bits were added and then it was ready for painting. Contruction has been paiun free, just what i had hoped and expected from an FM kit.

Paint went on quickly as its an all over RLM 76 with just some black along the wing roots.

And then the decals, these did not take long either. The only stencil is the fuel triangle above the 4 on the left side.

A couple of years ago, jack bilt a similar aircraft, can't recall what kit, he also used H Model decals. he pointed out a couple of errors and gave me a great link. One error was the fuselage cross, which is to small in the decal set. So i used one from my decal stash. Another error is the rubber, which the decal set shows is white. This seems to be from a photo taken from the rear right where the rubber is at an angle and the sun is catching off it. Other images clearly show it blue. They seemed to have used this one photo rather than use several which could have put them right.

Not got much left to do before this is done. I will have to restrain my self as to the weathering as the images show the aircraft is spotless. They were apparently kept well polished to help increase speed. Important as their main prey was Mosquito's. So it will just be some light exhaust stains. I also need to scratch shrouds for the exhausts which were bigger than normal because of its night fighter role.

More soon.
