Phantom grey?

I used Humbrol 40 and added a few random faded areas with the same HU 40 wit a drop of white in it

Alwasy seemed a bit of an error ins translation.

USN a/c were darker than their USAF kin, but not as dark as cockpit interiors.

Except Trumpy--I'm still convinced they use a ouija board for color suggestions.

dont have access to Gunze paints, and with the lockdown my funds have been cut by maybe 70% over the last 135 days so no money for toy stuff, need to use what I have :-(

Stik the kit decals are for VF 111 plane # 1000. Im not to crazy about this scheme but its the only decals I have for it.

I have HU 129 aswell as HU 40 gloss witch doesnt look to bad, maybe I will play arround with them to get a "used" look

Those two would work for that. USN aircraft have constant spot painting done at sea for corrosion control. Using 40 around certain panels over a 129 base would work well for that effect.

Humbrol 140 is Dark Gull Gray, the color used in cockpits. Humbrol 129, Light Gull Gray, is the correct color to use.

Hi;

         I have found most paints that are labeled for topside use, are to dark. I use Light Aircraft Grey with a drop or two of Semi-Gloss white. The thing is, Aircraft seem to be plagued by "scale effect" as badly as Ships! 

I go with fs36440 light gull gray with white belly and controll sirfaces.
