tail code decals
Posted by rbtvgo on Monday, November 30, 2020 5:57 PM

I'm working on an f-100d from a photograph I took in 1970 at Pleiku, Vietnam. I was an air traffic controller there at the time. An f-100d Misty Fac ( from all the documentation I can gather) tail code VM. My problem is finding a V for the model. I have the M in the appropriate script and scale for the 1/48th Trumpeter kit. I just cannot find a V.

Does anybody  know where I can find the appropriate scale  letter V?

thanks

What color is the V and what is the background color?

I’m guessing white or black tail codes? No background. Split letter font? You can try Print Scale or fantasy printshop for a generic sheet of Air Force numbers and letters. All can be found on  EBay. I build an F-100C with VS white tail codes using an Xtradecal sheet, but I was using the whole sheet.

If you can scrounge up another sheet of the one you have, cut the outer legs of the "M".  Instant "V".

There were some 105s with JV tail codes in VietNam.

Hi, thank you for your service.

The Misty aircraft were two seat F's, due to the nature of their mission.

Id love to see the photo.

There are pictures of F's tail code VM, white on whatever SEA color was behind them.

Have you read"Bury Us Upside Down"?
