Is Eduard going to downsize their P-51 to 1/72

The real question is, is there a market for it?  I remember asking that when Airfix came out with their new tool several years ago and it turns out there was.  The Airfix brought a modern mold that filled the lower end of the price range while leaving the Tamiya alone at the top. Where would the Eduard kit fit in?  If it became the top of the market pricewise, but didn't build up as nice or as easy as the Tamiya kit, why should I buy it?  Could I use a filletless tail -5 or a F-6?  Yep, but I only need one or two of each.  Could the Eduard kit carve out a niche in the 1/72 market? Yes it could, but it would have to beat the Tamiya kit to do it.

Buddy. There was obviously a market for the 48th scale version. Even with the Tamiya, Hasegawa, and Airfix kits out there. For me I have quite a few early tail versions I'd like to do. Many of them aces. Right now there is no easy way to do an early version. You can get the Obscureco conversion or the ancient Academy kit with the 14 cylinder Merlin which I have done. If Eduard can do a 72nd Fw190 in the $15-20 range they should be able to do a Mustang

I realize that I posed the question of price in my previous statement because I was trying to figure out where it would fit pricewise in the scheme of things.  I have no doubt that they can because I went to an online seller and saw Profipack kits selling for a couple of bucks cheaper than the Tamiya kit.  The question is, do THEY see a market for another 1/72 P-51D?  I also think that we are looking at the question from two different points of view.  Mine is mainly postwar, the countries that flew the Mustang after the war.  There were a few countries that flew it during the war, but most flew it after.  Could I use a recon version to do the Free French bird I have markings for? Absolutely, but I only need one.  You and the OP have interests that differ from mine.  But ultimately the answer lies with Eduard and if they see a market for another 1/72 P-51D.
