The art work is wrong on that kit and it has 7 exhaust stacks on the shown side, John.  But the one I have, 2132, actually has 12 exhaust stacks.  But then unlike the box art it has the dorsal fin on the tail in the plastic.  Go figure.  Maybe the only way to get an early no fillet D is to graft the tail from the Academy B kit or grind down and fill what's in this one.

John there is 2 Academy Mustang D's. When I built the 7 kits two years ago 2 of them were the Academy kits. Two totally different molds. Yea the artwork on the box has no bearing on what's inside

How about an early model P-51D with no tail fillet. The only one I know of is the ancient Academy kit that has a 14 cylinder Merlin. I've built one.

I think a new tooled P-36, P-35, and P-43 would be very nice. There are some good kits that have been done in 1/72, but not in a long time.

I'd be even nicer to see some modern kits in 1/48.

I'd love to see a new tooling for the -35 and -36, but the -43 has recently been released by Dora Wings.  I can't vouch for the kit's quality as I don't have it.

I'd be happy with just one new kit in 1/72:

We need a real accurate short wing B-26-0/A model.  The Valom is too fat and the Airfix/MPC is a B model, just like the Hasegawa kit.  The Monogram Snaptite is actually an early B-model.

WIP:  Monogram 1/72 B-26 (Snaptite) as 73rd BS B-26, 40-1408, torpedo bomber attempt on Ryujo

Monogram 1/72 B-26 (Snaptite) as 22nd BG B-26, 7-Mile Drome, New Guinea

Minicraft 1/72 B-24D as LB-30, AL-613, "Tough Boy", 28th Composite Group

I'll add one oldie from Airfix. OS2U Kingfisher

Last year's AZ Models 1/72 Kingfisher is very nice. It was released in three boxes:  USN, RAF, and RAAF.  I grabbed one as soon as they came out- it is so much better than the Lindberg and Airfix oldies!

The top of my wish list has been the same for years. Ju 87C.

I'd also like to see some new tooled British Army helicopters. The Gazelle, Lynx and Wildcat would be nice to start with.

And an F-35B with markings for an operational RAF aircraft.

I'd be in line for all of these

We need: A C-141 Starlifter. And a T-38 Talon that isn't a rebadged F-5B. A decent FJ-4 Fury. A decent F-86A/E Sabre. Someone to get Kinetic back on their announced C-17!

I have long wanted a decent 1:72 Ford Trimotor.  The only existing kits I know of are the Revell one, which is not really 1:72 and thus is not able to take aftermarket engines, which it needs.

The second is the Airfix version.  To scale, and nice moldings.  However, the struts that hold the engines are individual pieces, and when I use them as provided and the position indentations, I cannot get the engines at the right position/angle.

Good list. But the Fujimi A-7 family is still really good 30+ years later. I've got an A and a B on the bench now.

I'll add one oldie from Airfix. OS2U Kingfisher

I really hope Academy does that Phantom.

Oh and I did your namesake with the Airfix D.  Top blue nose

Sure, fujimi kit is OK. Built one already and have a few in stash. Nice to get a state of art kit though,  with hopefully a perfect intake. New kit hopefully would precipitate some new decal sheets an such also...

Like your kingfisher idea!
