Oh Boy!
Here we go into the Panel line and rivet world big time. Guys and Ladies. I have my Treibflugel as I have mentioned. This model is unusual in many aspects for me. First she's 1/35 and second she'd got a finish, Out of the box like Airfix did on their 1/24 J.U.87!
Smooth, almost silky to the touch and Semi Gloss in surface shine. Now here's my Dilemna. She's got what seems like millions of wee divots representing rivets all over her and crisp but fine panel lines.
I guess it doesn't matter because as far as the Liftwaffe is concerned they built five and none ever flew in combat. But after getting the Front( Top) half with the cockpit secured and then beginning the Bottom half I obscured the panel lines and rivets in those areas. She doesn't look right without them.
So I have spent the waning hours of Saturday night trying to restore those puppies. I have gotten a sharply pointed drill bit the right size and have used a lot of tape and a flexible ruler taped down to re-create those lines of divots. Whatta Job that is! I have had to sand the primer off to find the disappeared divots then carefully re-do them along with the panel lines.
Now the point I am really trying to make is this. This aircraft does NOT look right smooth! Why? I really don't know! Just think, Me worried about rivets and panel lines! And this has taught me something. I shall no longer make a dispapraging remarks about Rivets and Panel lines on anything not mine!
