Revell 1/32 Mustang has instruction error
Posted by kustommodeller1.2 on Saturday, March 20, 2021 12:07 PM

Howdy. Got a good deal on the Revell 1/32 P-51B Mustang. This is the old kit, that is currently released as "Berlin Express".

The instructions show drop tank on the front of the booklet, and also in the decal placement and painting guide, but no parts, or assembly step for them in the instructions themselves.

I was going to contact Revell and tell them about it, but neither website (there are two) has a standard e-mail contact form, just the missing parts form. Cant use it as there are no parts to tell them about lol. Just a mistake in the illustrations.

Now to my question..... Are there any suitable tanks that can be used available aftermarket?

Thaks and have a great day.

That was released in 2015 before the bankruptcy of R/M and RoG so new Revell won't take notice of it.  IIRC the 1969 release didn't have any either.  Don't bother with it.  Can't check it with Scalemates as they only have the instructions logged for the 2015 release.

Ultracast has 108 gal paper tanks. It seems there are a bunch of metal and paper tanks available.  Just google for them, but use a P-51D listing.

Last one I built, I happened to have an unused set of True Details resin napalm tanks; I just modded them back to the standard 75 gallon drop tanks the real ones were made from, and added a little plumbing with thin-gauge solder.

This kit has always (since its original release) oddly come with wing pylons, but never any tanks or ordnance to put on them. I didn' realize Revell had ever added drop tanks along the way...but I hadn't kept up with later reissues, since I had a few of the older ones still unbuilt.

Cheers

Greg
