1/48 Hasegawa F-15E Dual Role Fighter

Pit looks great.  Nice work on the canopy.  Not sure how junior modelers would deal with those pesky clear part mould lines. 

Looking good so far, Wolfman!  Not to be a rivet counter or anything, but F-15 seats don't have the ejection handle between the legs.

I'm building a Hasegawa 1/48 Strike Eagle.  I think the construction for all the 1/48 F15's is the same.  Did you have a problem with the intakes?  I need to clamp together the fuselage half for no gap for parts A5 and A6.  Also, the intake trunks needed sanding to remove the locator pins.  You can see the pins as you look down the intake.

how interesting.  My kit (Hasegawa F15E Strike Eagle 1/48) calls for these handles in that position.  The forward seat is assembled so close to control stick you can't assemble the ejection handle. Wont it look odd only on the RIO seat?  So maybe fill the holes and omit the handles? 

Neither seat in any F-15 has ejection handles in the center of the seat.  Just leave the handles off and fill the holes.  Between the A-10, F-15, and F-16 ACES II seats, only the F-16 seats have handles in the center.  F-15 and A-10 seats both have canopy breakers above the headrest, while the F-16 seats don't.

That f-15 is looking good. I have built a few of the hasegawa kits they can be a bit fussy.

Yes I think they are all the same mold. Well at least this kit appears to be their F-15D with some extra parts to make it look like an E. This is the clients kit he supplied. I think he bought back when it was first release and had it sitting in storage.

I did not need to clamp the fuselage together but did add some styrene to even out the intakes. I did not remove the locating pins. I used a stick to put putty on top after mounting then sanded flush and a quick shot of paint.

 The F-15E build continues. This week all the bombs and missiles were assembled, painted and decaled. Starting with the bombs, these were painted drab with aluminum fins. They were then mounted on the racks. The AIM-7 missiles were then painted. For the AIM-9 missiles I cut the tips off and made the sensor head out of clear acrylic gel and painting them with Tamiya X-19 smoke.  Next I worked on the exhaust area by painting it with the Vallejo duraluminum Metal Color and weathering it with some blue, brown and black pastel chalk. The landing gear and tails were then installed. The kit decals are very brittle and yellowed due to being in storage for so long. I looked thru my decals sets and found a set of Afterburner Decals set (# 48-031). These are F-15E Strike Eagle flagships from the 366th FW at Mountain Home AFB, Idaho. I will be doing the F-15E 87-0210 366th WG CO aircraft 2003. This aircraft features the "Let's Roll" decal on the left front fuselage.
