I'd probably start by submerging it in Future for a while to see if it will "wet" the crack and hide it.

Ditto

Future is definitely worth a try.  You don't need to hold it in the future long- four or five seconds should be long enough.  Or, you can just brush some along the crack, both sides, then wipe off surface with paper towel.  With the later method it may take a couple of applications.

Well;

      That looks familiar! Seems I have done that before. So what I did was glue the crack and sand it smooth with a nail buffer when dry. Then Filled it with "Pla-Doh" and let it AIR dry. Then I took a clear piece of plastic from my son's "Vac-U-Form". Put it in the machine and let it heat up then I took that "Pla-Doh" filled canopy and stuck it to the platen with a little piece of double sided tape. Did the " Flip-N-Pump" and wound up with a Perfect Replacement canopy.

     Okay I admit that was years ago. I now still make canopies for all my planes with .020 sheet and a "Mattel- Vac-U-Form" machine I found, pristine in the box at a Flea Market. New's that "Vac-U-Form" is as valuable as my Computer I am told. Complete like mine, with ALL the original Molds and parts and in it's original Box, Not good where labels are concerned( They are still readable though. And the instruction Book is Perfect!) is worth about 7-12 Hundred Bucks. Ridiculous isn't it?

Rooster, Is this for the Revell 1/32 P-51D-5NA? If so I have a Spare Canopy I can send you.

Unfortunately, I fear the crack is in a location where it will show no matter what you do.

You might be able to find a vac replacement at Sprue Bros. or on Ebay.

Cracked Canopy Fix/Replacement
Posted by rooster513 on Thursday, June 24, 2021 6:38 AM

Hi all! Is there any way to fix a cracked canopy? I was trying to "persuade" it into position and I got a nasty crack halfway up the glass. I'm guessing there is no fixing it but thought I'd ask. Does anyone have a extra one around they would be willing to part with? I'll contace Revell about a replacement but this is for a build I'm doing for my nephew's birthday and I don't think it would make it to me in time. It's the new Revell P-51D but I think any 1/32 P-51D canopy would work for me. Picture of the mess below:)
