1/48 Hobbycraft Hawker Sea Fury
Posted by keavdog on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 1:28 AM

This kit has a really nice PE set for the cockpit, but none of it is visable.  I really like this plane and the kit is pretty nice.

Cockpit that will never be seen

Paint step one

Decaling

Flory wash

And here she is, warts and all

As usual, a couple hicups but there you go...

Thanks,

John

Nice build John. One of the few times I've heard somebody say good things about a Hobbycraft kit

Looks great John. What paint did you use for the dark sea grey on top?

Well done! I built quite a few of those kits still have a few in my stash . I don't care for the prop and after market ones are not around any more, but your kit is a beauty.

The sea fury is such a beautiful shape. You sure made the lines look good with that paint job. Nice show with a HobbyCraft kit!

In the pattern: Scale Shipyard's 1/48 Balao Class Sub! leaning out the list...NOT! Ha, added to it again - Viper MkVii, 1/32 THUD & F-15J plus a weekend madness build!

Thanks again for the kind words.  Like the Corsair, an airframe that's hard to go wrong with.  She is a beauty, the muscle car of late prop planes.  Btw I found my missing landing gear retraction strut so technically she will be finished tonight lol

Thanks,

John

I'd like to second the Mongoose's comment - the Sea Fury "looked right", unlike a lot of its postwar RN brethren.

“Ya ya ya, unicorn papoi!”
