Got my latest issue of Aviation History yesterday.  It had several photos and a painting of Phantoms intercepting a Bear.  Calls out for a diorama!  I checked and I can get 1:144 kits of the two planes.  I will buy them now and put them in my stash, but it will be a while before I get to that project- I am just starting a new one.  I am starting the USS Langley, with heaps of PE.

Nice scores Boggs!

The Backfires and Badgers tended to be snooping around USN carrier battle groups when those were in range. The Tomcat was a natural escort for the Backfire

a Phantom or Tomcat would work with the Badger also

F is for FIRE, That burns down the whole town!

U is for URANIUM... BOMBS!

N is for NO SURVIVORS...

Welcome back.  You'll find much has changed - so many more paints and kit manufacturers.  Tons of aftermarket goodies.

Nice haul you got there

Thanks,

John

Might have intercepted Bears back in the day, out of Alaska.  Doubt the Soviet's used the jets for much, unless the balloon would have gone up, at least where we could intercept.

Ive decided to get back into modeling after approx a 12 year hiatus. On my way home from work today, I stopped by a local "collectible toy" store that I knew had some old model kits in it....Well after quite a bit of digging there, I walked out with these five kits for a very reasonable price.

The Russian heavy's are pretty cool, and while Ive always been more of a 1/48 scale guy, I figured I had to pick up some 1/72 Cold War fighters to go along with the Badger that were tucked away in there as well.

While Ive never seen a pic of an F102 or 106 escort a Badger, it would be cool to make a flying diroma if I can confirm some of these meetings took place....Not sure what I'll get for an escort for the Backfire yet...Smile
