Pullled this off the shelf yesterday and starting masking. Next hurdle is to attach windscreen. I did some filling and sanding to improve the windscreen fit using apoxie scultp.. not thinking about the light color of the material... now wodering how much it will show via the clear windscreen.. contemplating fixes... (PS Have sinced purchased 'black' apoxie scuplt!).
Markings willl probably bee for VF-142 Initial Scheme (aka Box Scheme).
On the Bench: Too Much
Unfortunately the canopy fit on these specially the later molded ones have worn out the molds and fit is here and there specially the canopy. I find that the early Monograms have better fit. The pit is very nice with sharp details.
I did this one not long ago and had to leave the canopy open cause of the horrible fit when closed. Still a very nice looking Tomcat.
Too many models to build, not enough time in a lifetime!!
Nice Build PJ. Yea, I have quite a few Monogram F-14As in the stash and they are all the initial Monogram boxings so as to get the best moldings possible. Right on about having the canopy open -- no way you're closing that baby :-D
Very nice,I remember trying that one in the 80's

It's a shame to close the canopy and hide all that nice cockpit detail anway. I like the look of a jet that's getting ready to fly anyways
