I love the movie, and I’m really looking forward to following your build. Great start. Thanks for taking the time to post.

As a big fan of the movie (and the two other versions), I will be curious to see how your build turns out. It'd be awesome if you put a few dogs and a block of carved-out ice in the cargo area, along with crew figures.

I have been thinking about doing that. I only did a brief search but could not locate 1/48 scale sled dogs. Anyone know of a source? Also 1/48 crew with acrtic gear/coats? I have a 1/32 scale figure that I could use for the alien. I could set it in a clear resin block.
Now you have me tempted to do that to my next one, lol. Shame you won't see any of it once it's closed up. I had some struggles closing up the fuselage halves on mine. I landed up filing down the sides of the bulk heads a bit to get things as close as possible, and I still had a gap to fill. I made sure to reinforce the seams with what I call mac daddy super glue, so nothing would pop open. I have a horrible habit of things slipping out of my hand and smacking my bench, which in turn pops open my nicely sanded smooth seam that was just about ready for paint.
Actually you will see the cargo area as I am having the cargo doors open. Still contemplating adding lights to the inside.
Looking great so far! That lovely gap. I had the fun of dealing with it in the same spot, so now I know it wasn't just me, lol. I had to do quite a bit of sanding, and fitting to get it to close up.
Looking great so far!
You are making a very nice job of that. Love the Dak's. Company my father flew for in the late 70's/80's had three of them for a while. Made the school holiday job interesting!
In the queue: 1/48 Beech Staggerwing (RAAF), P38 (RAAF), Vultee Vengeance (RAAF), Spitfire Vb (Malta), Spitfire VIII x2 (RAAF), P39 x2 (RAAF), Martin Baltimore (Malta?), Martin Maryland (Malta), Typhoon NF1b, Hellcat x2 (FAA)
