Good looking cockpit. Should be a great model. Just be real careful fitting the wheel bay assemblies into the booms and avoid some grief down the road.

Looking nice Obi. That extra detailing really makes the difference. What did you use for the throttle levers? Did you scratch them, or are they PE?

Keep up the nice work and send more progress pics, eh?

Thanks kik36 ,fightnjoe ,falcon039 ,cassibil ,72cuda ,ChrisB , J-Hulk ,
nsclcctl ,stinger ,monrad and rjkplasticmod.

nsclcctl , first I painted all the green parts flat black ,then misted it
with the interior color ,lastly ,I lighted the color a little bit with yellow
and misted it on the most worn parts.
All this was done keeping the lower parts of the cockpit in a darker
shade to simulate shadows.
Then a little drybrushing.

stinger , the throttle levers are very easy to make.
I cyanoed fine gauge soldering wire(any wire the right size is ok)
to the throttle quardrant and to the gear switch.
Then blobs of Gunze Mr Surfacer 500(any putty or white glue is ok)
are placed. This is followed by painting .

rjkplasticmod , yes the gear bays were tricky but brute force came
to the rescue. Also there were a few gaps that needed to puttied.

Here is a little update ,the cockpit has been installed.Smile [:)]

Hey, what is that ballast in the nose? Is that acrylic gel holding it in place?
NICE looking bird.
My father's uncle was killed in a training accident in a P-38, so I'm thinking of making him one for his B-day, so I am really interested in how this one comes out. Nice Pics.

Now that I think of it, I also did one P-38, but I did a night reconaissance versions. I painted it a light/dark grey black. It has white american flag on it on top side, and on tails. It don't look bad. Do the night reconaissance verions even exist? I just thought it would look cool.

Thanks leemitcheltree ,Jim Barton, Stormtrooper3395, rjkplasticmod ,
fightnjoe, TAG LK and Mike V.

I think the P 38 is a beautifull plane but can be very ugly from certain angles.
Strange isn't it?

Stormtrooper3395, the ballast is a ball bearing held in place by BlueTac.
Good Luck on your P38 for your dad.

rjkplasticmod , yes the gear bays were a hassle and so is the finish
I had to patch up a few areas.

joe ,thanks for the compliments ,however all the camera work was
learnt from pix ,all from his good advice.I'll love to see your Dday P 38, brother.

MikeV , whats your favourite WW2 aircraft?

TAG LK ,the night recon ones look way cool ,to me they look like a
spaceship.

butchy ,hopefully the Academy 1/72 comes with different model options like their
1/48 kit.

thanks again all and here is a little update.
