I just comleted this 1/48 Polikarpov PO-2.
It was really not a pleasure to build, the detail and PE is very good but the instructions are vague in places and the wings are in 5 sections with no indication of dihedral angles. It almost went into the trash a few times.
The intreplane and cabane strut assemblies simply do not line up to hold the wings if I follow the instructions.
Eventually beat the thing into submition and happy with the weathered winter wash colors to be like it would have been late winter. My snow scape was a total failure but I will work on that still, it gives a nice feel to the model.

Looks great. A real war weary bird.
Thanks,

Very nice. Great weathering.
Hi, Theuns -
I'm glad you stuck with it, indeed it's a very good build and it's a new one for me. I'd never heard of it, quite an example of the crude aerodynamics of the day, I think you did a great job of the rigging and flying/landing wires.
Thanks for the post and photos.

I think you did a great job on it. I like it alot.
Very sharp build Theuns! Everything turned out just right! How is that kit? Something that you would recommend?

Stik the detail on this kit I can not fault, the mold quality is good but the instructions I found to be confusing in areas like trying to line up struts. The wings are 2 seperate bottom ones, the top wing has a seperate centre section and seperate outer pannels.
The only way to build this and keep sane would be to come up with some form of "scaffold" to hold wings in place and then put the struts in somehow.
I believe the ICM kit is not as complex and also nice in detail.
Thanks for that critique of the kit Theuns. It sure does sound like a handful with all those potential alignment challenges. That makes your finished build even more impressive.
Wow, looks fantastic Theuns!!!
I love the weathered finish!
