The latest form the bench to the shelf. Tamiya F-51D, 12 FBS, 18 FBG, Korea. So much new stuff tried on this build. Whew! Painting most markings. Photo Etch in the cockpit. Flory wash. Plus, I'll be adding a figure to pose with the airplane. I'm still painting the figure. The figure, I hope, will represent "Chappie" James when he was in Korea. The overall NMF is AK Aluminum. The black, red, yellow, and grey are Tamiya acrylics. I filled most of the panel lines on the wings with Vallejo Plastic Putty and buffed that down before painting the wings a light gray, representing the lacquer painted surface done at the factory. After painting and sealing the paint, I gave the airplane an overall coat of Flory Brown Wash to dirty up the airplane. The tires received Flory Sand to make the tread show. Since the cockpit has Eduard Photo Etch, I posed the canopy open, another first for me. So without further ado, here's the F-51D Mustang. Oh yeah, the nose art is a decal.
OK. In the stash: Way too much to build in one lifetime...
Great subject choice!
F is for FIRE, That burns down the whole town!
U is for URANIUM... BOMBS!

I like how the rivets are detailed. In that last photo they are really highlighted. Is that just the Flory in the recesses?

Yeah, it's just the Flory wash. I am impressed how, after cleaning it off, that panel lines and rivets really popped. For me, the Flory wash worked better than an actual pin wash.
I have an Eduard/Hasegawa(?) RF-51D (F-6D) I'll probably do the same as this Mustang.
Beautiful build! Brings back memories of the movie "Battle Hymn". What scale is this kit?

Thanks, Tom. "Battle Hymn" is an excellent movie with real Mustang action and a great cast. This is the kit I used, 1/48 scale.
