1/48 Su-35

Old old thread but thought I'd reply anyways

That picture of #711 was indeed of the Su37 which had thrust vectoring but it has been converted back into an Su35. And I guess from what I read it originally started as an Su35.

I bought that SOL kit years back. I was wondering if they still made them. I never did get around to building mine. Maybe soon

I just checked my SOL conversion set for the Su-27. You can make it into a Su-35/37. The conver kit # is (3062) MM062-50000
The instructions are very vague indeed. I was close on the pricing, I picked it up at my local shop for $49.95. I feel it is well worth the price(LOT's O RESIN).
Now I have to build more on my Ref's for the Su-35/37. Man more books to get

I thought the long protruding thing was the Brake chute holder because in my flight sims I see the Drogue chute come out from there...

Yup this numbering system is strange.... The platypus was indeed the ground attack version(SU32) and the SU27K was like the MiG29K a carrier version of the SU27 later renamed the SU33... But I guess the guy who I got the pic from (Venik) is a staunch Russian aviation enthusiast and hence it leads me to believe that the aircraft shown is indeed a Flounder (37) and not the "super flanker"(35)... I dont know about any official books on Sukhoi.. But you might try a huge book called "The Chronicle of Aviation". They record and put pictures of every aircraft and update names regularly...

Nevermind, that long unit is a rear-facing radar. This while Su-thing is very confusing.
Do you know of any book published strictly for Sukhoi aircraft? Or anyone else for that matter?

Thanks for the link, Nandakumar. I went looking and found the same plane in my photo listed as an Su-37! The MAKS airshow program, announcer, and placard in front of the plane called it an Su-35... Did they do some name changing since '97? The Su-27K became the Su-33... I know the "Platypus" was an Su-32.... That Sukhoi Su-27 family is a confusing bunch...!

Re: My photo. That aircraft was identified at the airshow (MAKS 97) as an Su-35.....
As for those Trumpeter/Panda/Mini Hobby kits, an earlier thead on this forum said they were cheap copies of the Academy Su-27. I have not seen these kits myself, so take that as you may.

I think the picture posted by bubbamoosecat is a SU-37 flounder and not a flanker. Please check if they're the same. I think the SU37 is a bigger and more advanced aircraft I cant see the conards clearly so I dont know but I have a picture of the same aircraft with a white nose.
I have the picture of the aircraft (SU35) in the splinter camo version.

Academy/Minicraft did two variants of the Su 27(single & two seater) in 1/48th if I'm not mistaken.

You sure that's not Mini Hobby Models? The packaging is all quite similar.
Haven't seen a Trumpeter or a Panda Su-35, but I have the Mini Hobby Models kit.

Trumpeter/Panda Models has an Su-35. It's just a little hard to find. But it's out there. And I think it's about $30 US.

I found it available at Great Models Webstore. They advertise in FSM. Price is almost $60!

I bought the SOL conver a few years ago. It runs about $50 US dollars but for the price you get basically a whole new kit in itself. Flaps up, Mike

The Su-35 is a vastly uprated version of the basic Su-27 design. Most notable differences are the canard wings, vectoring jet nozzles and taller tails. I saw this thing fly at a Moscow airshow and it's capable of some incredible manuevers. As for the 1/48 Su-35, you'll need to start with the Academy Su-27 and add the conversion kit from Sol, which will probably cost more that the Su-27 kit.

Isn't the Su-35 the Navalized version of the Su-27. Or is it a whole different animal??

Look for an Su-27. Thay are virtually the same aircraft.
