My latest is this nice kit from Hasegawa, the Aichi Ruysei Kai B7A2 "Grace" in 1/48.
Added Eduard's PE detail set, but very little of it is actually visible. I wanted to display the canopies in the open position. The kit parts are separate but you cannot display them open, so I opted for a Squadron canopy set. It became apparent once I cut those parts off the sheet that I did not get a canopy for the Grace. I'm still not sure what warbird it might fit, perhaps the "Jill" that I also have in my stash, so I ended up using the kit parts and put them on in the closed position.
Paints are mostly Vallejo and AK Interactive Real Colors. Weathering with pastels and Flory dark dirt wash. I used a Montex Mask set left over from an earlier Aichi Val build to paint the markings, and I also painted the yellow and white stripes on the tail.
This was one of those pleasant builds where nothing went awry. It took a little longer to complete because I had to wait for the PE sheet to be delivered.
I just completed work on this one early this morning, but had been working on it with it perched on a jig. So right before I took these photos, I noticed that the tail wheel does not actually reach the surface due to the torpedo fin. The torpedo mount is inserted into the fuselage as far as it would go, so I wonder if I didn't align the fin properly.
And then after I had taken the photos and broken down my photo studio during lunch today, I noticed a lack of squadron markings from the decal sheet. Yep, by painting the primary markings, I overlooked the fact that I had not put the very minimal decals I need for this build. So after work today, I'll take care of that.
Next up, staying in the PTO with Hasegawa's F6F-3 Hellcat.
